Today you should read: Psalm 93

How do you pray each day? Do you use a list? A certain model of prayer? I have used the A-C-T-S method for a long time:

A – doration
C – onfession
T – hanksgiving
S – upplication (sharing your needs with God)

I have to admit that sometimes I struggle a bit to think of new things to praise God for in the Adoration phase. I know I shouldn’t – but I often find myself listing the very same things over and over.

Psalm 93 helps! It’s a Psalm of Adoration – listing a lot of great things about the Lord. So… let’s spend today adoring Him together – whatcha say?

Verse 1 – Praise God because He reigns, because He’s robed in majesty, armed with strength, and the world is established firm and secure through Him.
YOU TRY IT! Pray these to God – recognizing His goodness in each of these areas.

Verse 2 – Praise Him for being eternal – His throne was established from all eternity – Your turn!

Verse 3 – The seas praise Him! They lift up their voice – the pounding waves.

Verse 4 – He’s mightier than the great waters.

Verse 5 – His statues stand firm, holiness adorns Him for endless days!

How did you do? Did you praise Him for all these things? It’s the perfect way to begin prayer. Remember… God inhabits the praises of His people! Praise Him!

  1. Like you, Tim, I sometimes feel as if I am being repetitive in the adoration phase of my prayer time. Today, I want to record some of my responses as I praise Him for who He is.

Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful creation – and the opportunities I recently had to see even more of it. Thank you, Lord, for forgiveness, salvation, eternal life with You, a mansion in Heaven, and “a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Thank you for sending Your Son to earth to be our example and to experience trials and temptations – and then to die for our sins and be resurrected on the third day. Thank you, Lord, for Your Holy Word, the absolute truth to guide our every move. Thank you, Lord, that I could never finish this list and that all of these gifts can be categorized by Your Love for us. Please help me to share Your love with those around me. In Your precious name I pray, Amen.

  2. This is my FAVORITE model of prayer! There is something about praising God at the beginning of every day that just sets the tone for the entire day…..acknowledging his sovereignty is a comforting thought. I am reminded, with the current Hurricane, of the strength of the wind and the seas. The imagery makes it so much easier to see the seas lifting their voice to the Lord. He is mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea! TRULY, the Lord on high is MIGHTY! There is NOTHING that is impossible with and through our holy, strong, sovereign, and mighty God!! Thanks Tim for reminding us of the importance of adoring our Lord! It not only blesses Him….but also us.
