Today you should read: Ruth 3

When I read chapter three, I’m inundated with the concepts of God’s providence and protection. God cares for His children! This brings me such peace – especially when I consider that He knows everything and is able to do whatever He wishes.

It makes me think of this passage:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:25-34

Even though God’s providence and protection are an act of His grace and are controlled by His divine will, there are certain guidelines that make things work better for us.

OBEDIENCE – obedience brings God’s blessings, while disobedience brings God’s discipline.

TRUST – faith opens the door for God’s hand to move more fully in our lives.

PRAISE – giving Him the credit for what He brings about in your life moves God to action. (He already knows whether you will or won’t credit Him). This makes me think of an old sing I grew up singing:

Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you;

Beneath His wings of love abide,
 God will take care of you.
God will take care of you,
 through every day,
O’er all the way;
 He will take care of you,
 God will take care of you.

God took care of Ruth, and He will take care of you. Trust Him.

  1. You have knocked it out of the park today Tim! Very convicting! MaryHelen and I were just talking last night about obedience to God. We often think that because we obey him in one area….or several….that we are obeying and that is enough. Unless we obey God in EVERY area of life we have not truly allowed him to be Lord. It’s a completely surrendered life that leads us to the kind of trust and praise you described above. God’s provision is unmatched! God has taught me that he reiterates these principles in his word, time and time again, for a reason……peace and oneness with him! “There is none like you….sovereign God!”

  2. “There is none like you , no one else can touch my heart like you do . I could search for all eternity long and find ,there is none like you. Your mercy flows like a river wide and healing comes from hands, suffering children are safe in your arms there is none like you . There is none like you no one else can touch my heart like you do ,i could search for all eternity long and find there is none like you ” Thanks Tim and Tina for reminding me of this great song
