Today you should read: Zechariah 13

Hey JumpStarters!  Thanks for staying faithful to this journey together.  Do me a favor today – our writers need a little encouragement – post and let us know how JumpStart is ministering to you.  Will you?

We’re almost done with the book of Zechariah – it’s been so interesting.  Today’s chapter is a prophetic message about the coming Messiah – our Savior Jesus Christ.

On that day a fountain will be opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to cleanse them from all their sins and impurity (v.1)

The atoning blood of the Lord Jesus along with His atoning grace…. This makes me think of the hymn…
There is a fountain filled with blood,
drawn from Immanuel’s veins.
And sinners plunged beneath that flood,
lose all their guilty stains.

With salvation (from the blood of Christ) comes change.  Salvation always brings change!

“I will erase idol worship throughout the land, so that even the names of the idols will be forgotten. I will remove from the land both the false prophets and the spirit of impurity that came with them.” (v.2)

This reminds me of the message of 2 Corinthians 5:17…

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

The rest of this chapter is prophecy about the sufferings of Christ.  God the Father gave the order of the sword of justice against His Son – freely making His life an offering for our sin.  It was His blood that sets us free.

Spend some time today and bask in the goodness of the cross.

Remember all that Jesus did for you and me – thank Him for His sacrifice for mankind.
Then think of all the things His gift has changed in you.  Make a list and show your gratefulness for each.

  1. To make a list of all I am thankful for would require that I write all day long. Most of all, every time I think of Savior’s blood flowing to cover my sins, I cry, tears of shame, tears of thankfulness, and finally tears of joy. Tears of joy that He loved me that much!

  2. Tim, Todd, Rich, Chad, Sam, Robbie, and other guest writers,

JumpStart has been a tremendous blessing each day. Not only does it get us into God’s word, it gives us a window into the soul of each writer and how they interpret the Bible and apply it to their lives. JumpStart connects our church in a unique way when people are reading the same verses each day and then posting how God’s has spoken to them through His living word.

I know you writers are busy with ministry, your families, school, etc. I’m grateful God has blessed our church with leaders who are willing to take the time necessary to write the JumpStart commentaries. Most of all, I’m thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who saved me from my sins through His blood on the cross.

Keep up the good work! You men are a blessing to me and many others.

  3. Thank you for the thought and time invested into your posts. As with anything God has a part in, the commentaries are timely.

  4. Jumpstart means so much to me…first it’s giving me a systematic approach to my Bible reading and though I have been reading the Bible for decades I don’t know that I have read it cover to cover. Jumpstart is making that happen for me. It is also providing Brent and I with a “couples” devotional time, something we were not doing before Jumpstart. Thanks so much for the hard work by all the writers that is put into providing such a valuable resource.

  5. Thank you to all that are involved with Jumpstart. This is how I start my day in the Lord’s word. The comentaries are a great way to see the hearts of the ministers of Center Point. As Loralee has said the comments are timely. Again thank you! May God bless all the ministers and also the person or people who put them on here.

  6. I have appreciated, so much, all of the time and preparation that each writer puts into providing us with Jumpstart each day! It has encouraged me to read the Bible completely through last year and will complete it once again this year. Jumpstart really has been a “Jumpstart” to get me in His Word. Thank you!

  7. Thanks to all of you Jumpstart contributors. The devotional thoughts and comments help me get focused on God’s word each morning. May God continue to bless you as you bless others!

  8. Thank you to all the writers of Jumpstart!! All of you guys have great insight and it is a great way to start to my morning. Thank you for all that you do!!

  9. I want to thank each of you that take your time to share God’s word through Jumpstart. I start my day with reading the scriptures and the post for the day. My two yr. old granddaughter wants to read (notional she calls it) everly morning. I’ve learned alot from reading but also getting each of your insight into the word. Many days I share with co-workers at school the post for that day. I have given the CPC web address so they can read daily for themselves. I am so thankful for Jesus who paid the price for my sins. I am so thankful for the peace and hope that he gives to me daily. God bless each of you.

  10. I think the remarks above had said more than I could. I’ve been here from the beginning of jumpstart may miss a day here and there but always make it up. I think there’s probable a lot of lurkers like me reading it everyday just not making ourselfs know by posting replys. Keep up the good works guys and thanks.

  13. Thanks everyone! Writing and reading your comments is so encouraging! I’m so privileged to be walking through the Bible along side of you.

  14. i read jumpstart towards the end of the day. i like reading the bible and then reading the commentaries for a different perspective; it helps me understand the passage as a whole. I also lke reading the comments; it helps me understand the perspectives of our church leaders; I take joy in that God speaks to us all in such a unique and personal way.
    thank you,
    nicole Yosmali

  15. One more thing,

  16. Guys, I get both insight and challenge from you jumpstart posts. Leigh Ann and I regularly discuss your posts and the thoughts you share here. Thanks for your dedication to discipleship.

  17. Though I read this yesterday, I’m a day late in responding. I echo all of the other comments. Jumpstart has allowed me to dig deeper into parts of God’s word that I am not typically in….some that I haven’t read in a while…..and what a blessing!! I am so grateful for all of your commitment to shepherd and lead your flock, and equip the saints, that we might know God and his infinite love for us more deeply!
