Today you should read: Job 12:1-12

The Value Of God’s Wisdom….

Wisdom…what’s it worth to you??   In life, there seems to be more important things than wisdom, but God is teaching me just how important wisdom truly is.

In our reading today, Job is candidly expressing the lack of wisdom his friends have.  Although his friends desire to speak into Job’s life, their wisdom of the situation, God’s character, and reasoning behind Job’s despair is faulty.  They lack wisdom.

I think this is an important opportunity for us to understand the value of wisdom.

Today’s “Walk-a-Way”

In Job 28:1-28, Job describes just how vital wisdom is.  He says that a variety of other things can be found in this world, but wisdom can only be found in the Lord.  Job 28:23 says,

“God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found, for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens.”

In a different instance, in 1 Kings 3, Solomon asks for wisdom from God instead of riches and prosperity, and God is pleased because of his request.

Wisdom is important.  It helps us discern what is right and what is most beneficial.  It helps us to lead others closer to Jesus and gives us understanding in difficult situations.  Ultimately, living with wisdom will help bring glory to God.

So my question is, do you pray for wisdom daily?  How will you know how to respond to the people you lead, to the situations at hand, or to the problems that arise?  How will you know what to say to your kids or your spouse?  How do you actively maintain reliance upon God?   In order to do this you will need wisdom that only God himself can provide.

So, let me encourage you to ask for wisdom from God daily.  We all desperately need His wisdom.
