Today you should read: 1 Chronicles 9

So today we get…a lot of weird names we won’t be giving to our next child. We get a list of who came back to Jerusalem and when. We get some personal commendations about a number of people. We get explanations of what some of them and their families did.

What does any of this have to do with you and me? What can we walk away with from this chapter? While it seems true that it would be difficult to discern much from this passage one thing is very clear.

The Israelites went home

We can’t miss how important this is because it presents us a number of wonderful truths:

1. God follows through with His promises- He never drops the ball.
2. God loves His people- no matter what happens God’s love never diminishes
3. God provides salvation- Though they were exiled, once again, God set them free

There are more things we can pick up on here about God’s character and His people but for today take those three things and ponder them, pray on them and thank God for them.
