Today you should read: Ezekiel 27
It’s so easy for us to believe that we have determines who we are. It’s all around us. This is why so much of our attention is focused on obtaining material possessions and prestigious positions.
This was true of Tyre – the people of Tyre had it all – or so it seemed. (v.1-25) But because of their wicked hearts that were turned away from God – God brought horrible judgments on them.
We must guard against this worldly thinking…
And He [Jesus] told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:16-21
Having things is OK as long as the things don’t have you! Doing your best is great as long as our motives are pure. Remember – our motive must be His Kingdom.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Ask God to check your heart today and surrender the wrong thinking to Him.
