Today you should read: Ezekiel 46
Upon first reading Ezekiel 46, one might think that this chapter is quite a bore as it describes the specific ordinances and offerings of the temple. In fact, you may feel like it’s chapters like these where it’s really tough to hear from God or get anything out of it. However it is God’s Word and each word is put there for a purpose. This includes the different roles of the people who had specific instructions and duties within the temple. In this chapter you see that the people, the prince and the priest all had different entrances, rooms and obligations in the temple. Each role that one had on this chapter illustrates an even better picture of Jesus’ role as Prince/king and great high priest to His people. Just like Jesus inheritance is now ours, it is Jesus who makes himself the final sacrifice & mediator for our sins so that we can have reconciliation with God.
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
