Today you should read: Ezekiel 47

Living water, come fill me up…

This chapter shows a very intriguing vision. It mainly consists of “water.” As odd as it may seem, this vision is packed with meaning and application for our lives. Mainly, this chapter points us to Jesus.

Today’s “Walk-a-Way”

The temple in this image signifies the place where God dwells among His people. The water that we see in this chapter flows from/through the temple, implying from the presence of God.

As the chapter goes on, we see this “living water” bring life. It brings life to everything around it. In verse 9, the Bible says, “…so everything will live where the river goes.” This water signified a restoration of God’s people and God’s land.

What does this mean for us? Well it points to the life-giving Spirit that we receive through Christ, which flows from and is the presence of God. We can know, that God has always set it up this way. Life and restoration comes from the presence of God. It comes from His Spirit, it comes from Christ.

Do you need restoration today? Don’t trust in anything else to give it but the presence of God. Draw near to God, through Christ, by the Holy Spirit and drink from living waters that can begin to bring restoration, growth, and fruit in the dry land of your heart.

  1. Today’s passage and commentary reminds me of one of my favorite worship songs by Chris Tomlin: All My Fountains.

    Open the heavens
    Come living water
All my fountains are in You
    You’re strong like a river
    Your love is running through
All my fountains are in You.

Praise be to God for His Word which points us to Jesus, The Living Water!
