Today you should read: Revelation 7

I hope you’re enjoying our study in Revelation. This book is captivating, yet difficult to understand.

God Preserves His People

All of he events described in Revelation are fully under the control and direction of God. It may appear a bit like chaos, but it is carefully planned and detailed by a loving Heavenly Father. In verses 1-3 we witness the power of God holding back destruction for the protection of His people.

In verses 4-8 the 144,000 witnesses are unveiled. These are witnesses, 12,000 from every Jewish tribe, who proclaim to the world that Jesus is the Messiah. They will do this with the high price of great persecution.

The over-riding theme in the book of Revelation is the eternal praise of Jesus. Verse 9 reminds us that this crowd (too great to count) will be made up of people from every nation, tribe, people, and language. The angels and the elders will join in (v.11). This vast crowd is clothed in white and comes from those who died in the great tribulation (v.14) – martyrs. They never stop praising Jesus (v.15).

Jesus is worthy of their praise… and He’s worthy of yours too! Will you take time today and spend some extra time praising Him for Who He is and for what He’s done?
