Today you should read: Revelation 16:8-16

Yesterday we were introduced to the seven bowls of wrath that God pours out in the end times. Some Christians believe that these plagues will literally happen exactly as they are described in this book. This includes today’s Scripture which would be:

Bowl Four: Burning heat from the sun that scorched people who did not repent or give God glory.

Bowl Five: The throne of the beast was plunged into darkness where people who followed the beast gnawed their tongues and cursed God because of their pain and sores.

Bowl Six: The great river Euphrates dried up causing evil frog spirits to deceive rulers across the world to combine and get ready for a battle against the one true God and His people.

Quite a scene indeed. Some Christians however believe that much of these bowls of wrath are more metaphorical in events that have already happened or are still happening in history. For more on this view see this blog post on the above events by Bible Scholar and Pastor Sam Storms at this link: http://www.samstorms.com/all-articles/post/the-seven-bowls—part-ii

Whatever you believe, we know that the wrath of God is coming on Satan’s last stab at deceiving others away from Christ and His time is near. He’s already been defeated by the cross and disarmed in the resurrection and God’s people need to awake at all times like it says in Rev. 16:15, dressed in Christ’s righteousness which satan can never get back from Christ. As satan prepares his army, God will come like a thief in the night to show that their plans and preparation is in vain and satan will done with forevermore.

  1. Thanks Erik, and all of our pastors who have been leading us through Revelation. Regardless how you interpret this book, it ends with King Jesus claiming His children for eternity in Heaven with God. Amen!
