Today you should read: Revelation 22:1-5

I can’t believe this is my final post here at Jumpstart, at least on our first round through the Bible. Crazy to think that we started going through God’s Word together in this format back in January of 2011. It has stretched me, encouraged me, and fueled me. I pray it has done the same to you. What was your favorite book we went through? Can you think of a major lesson the Lord taught you through a passage or a post? We’d love to know.

Today’s reading is a huge encouragement. It’s almost paralyzing to consider what the world will look like without the marring effects of sin. We see a picture of a river of life. We see a global idea as well: the healing of the nations. We also see a tree that is life-giving, the antithesis to the tree that Adam and Eve sinfully pursued. More than any of this, though, is that we see the unending glory of God. I long for this. Do you?

Here’s my final challenge to us Jumpstarters in light of Revelation 22: PREACH THE GOSPEL. Preach it to yourself. Preach it to your friends and family. Support those who preach it to the uttermost parts of the world. Don’t let anything hinder your commitment to the proclamation of God’s salvation. Reading something like this should cause us to desire that everyone we know join us in such a paradise.

Thanks for being a faithful church family. Thank you for loving the Bible. Blessings on your day, my friends.

  1. Todd, Tim, and team,

Thanks for your commitment and diligence to explore the books of the Bible, to reflect and study what the passages mean, to write these devotions, and to do the work to administrate and post these. I suspect most of us don’t appreciate the extra work this adds to your week. I’m looking forward to the the next study.
