Exodus 20 is one of the most well know chapters in the Bible and one of the most controversial. How many fights have there been about posting the Ten Commandments in front of a City Hall or in a public building? Why? Because we don’t want to be told what to do – we want to do things our way – with our rules. But how does that work out? Things ALWAYS work better when you do them God’s way! But even as Christ-followers, many of us see these as outdated and obsolete. They are current and very important for our lives today. God’s Word always is.
- No other gods.
- No idols.
- Don’t misuse God’s Name.
- Take a day to rest and honor God each week.
- Honor your parents.
- Do not murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not lie.
- Do not covet.
Each of these is a study in itself (I want to teach a series on them soon) but simple enough to understand. What would our city, or country, and our world be like if we all obeyed them? See… God does know best!
- Which of the 10 Commandments are you only partially obeying?
- How would fully obeying them all improve your life?
- What steps will you take today to change that?
