In today’s reading, we see God deliver Saul and the Israelites as they struck down a formidable foe: the Ammonites. This was all caused because of the sin and idolatry of the Ammonites, a people that desired the utter destruction and humiliation of the Jews. The Lord was true to His people and He allowed Saul and the meager army of Israel to deliver a knockout blow. At the end of the chapter, the Kingdom of Israel began a renewal process, truly a highlight of 1 Samuel.
In reading this, I was reminded of how many times the Lord has delivered me. Satan desires my end, yet God allows me to serve Him and point others to His Son. My mind is flooded with so many examples: sin issues, reconciliation issues, physical issues… etc. And where to begin regarding eternal deliverance? The Lord is so good.
Let’s share in the comments section below about how we have experienced the good hand of the Lord. He is for us! And let’s be thankful about the promise of eternal deliverance:
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him… ” (1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV)
