Today you should read: Proverbs 11
Proverbs 11 has some of my favorite Proverbs.
Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. (14)
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion. (22)
Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. (29)
However what stood out the most to me were the first 8 verses where you see these words.
False / Just
Pride / Humility
Integrity / Crookedness
Upright / Treacherous
Guides / Destroys
Righteousness / Wickedness
There’s no grey area between the two words above. They are antonyms that produce completely different fruit in Proverbs 11:1-8. It’s the difference between obeying God and submitting to sin. As we all know, there are many grey areas in life but then there’s Scripture like this that reminds us of the polar opposites of God’s way & Satan’s way. This is why it’s important for us to watch for this fruit in our lives and others.
Do people see justice, humility, integrity, uprightness, guidance and righteousness in our life or do they see lies, pride, crookedness, treachery, destruction and wickedness? Do we produce disciples that show more of these characteristics then others? I pray and hope that we we show more of God’s characteristics then the latter and if not, reread the fruit that comes from the different characteristics in Proverbs 11.
