Today you should read: Luke 11:14-54

We changed things up today! We’re doing Jumpstart by video with Todd, our Worship & College Pastor. Short version is commentary only, so if you’ve already clicked the link above and read the passage, choose that one. Longer version includes the whole passage being read, so if you haven’t read it yourself yet, feel free to choose that one.

SHORTER (NO SCRIPTURE READ):

LONGER (FULL PASSAGE READ):

Let us know what you thought of today’s change of format, and feel free to comment about the application questions and how you’re processing this chapter of Luke.

  1. I agree that the video was a refreshing change to mix it up a bit. When I was viewing the post, I couldn’t tell which video was the long video and which was the short. I had to just click one and listen for cues to determine which video was which. In the endI listened fully to the long video. I liked the questions that were asked. It seemed to be a way to draw me in even though I wasn’t reading the passage myself.

    1. Thanks for commenting Shanna, we relabeled the videos to make sure folks know which is which. That said, the next time I do this, I will pick a day where I have a shorter passage and singular theme :-)))

  2. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. I love this Jumpstart! I think you did a great job Todd of staying on topic of the assigned verses. I really felt like I was learning and being taught about these verses, not just reading them with my fellow Jumpstarter’s or reading some vague reference to these verses. Wish all Jumpstart could be more like this with or without the video.

  3. Thanks for the time spent on the video. Y’all are always utilizing different means to share the Word. Whatever it takes! I tried to access the shorter video but it kept sending me to an App Store to download Vimeo. I couldn’t get it to go back to the video. I’m sure it’s my inexperience with all things technical.
Repentance. That’s the key. Am I willing to not only look at my sins and acknowledge them but to turn from them and change direction? Not always. My heart wants its comfort and apathy. I really want God’s Word to come alive in me so I can live a life of fruitfulness.

    1. So weird Kaitlyn! I couldn’t reproduce the issue but we can look at it together the next one we try via video.

And you’re exactly right: we know our sins well, but do we truly repent of them? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
