Today you should read: 2 Kings 7
Today’s reading is such an interesting story in the lives of God’s people. As I read through the Old Testament again this year, I’m once again amazed at God’s protection of His people. He always looks after His own. His promise rings true:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Reading Psalm 91 today, I see God’s promises of protection lived out:
- He’s our refuge
- Our place of safely
- We can trust Him
- He rescues and protects
- He covers us with His feathers and wings
- His faithful promises are our armor and protection
- He protects us at night and from attack and disease
- He guards our family and home
- His angels look out for us and uphold us
- He blesses us with a long life and then heaven
In our reading today in 2 Kings 7, we see God going to bat for His people just as He does for us. We see His hand involved in their lives to guard and guide them.
Let this be an encouragement to you today. God is an ever-present help in our lives (Psalm 46:1). Whatever you’re going through, however you feel attacked, God is there. He loves you and He will care for you.
Be strong and courageous today as you live your life for Him and by His strength.
