Today you should read: Psalm 129

Happy Fourth of July! Thanks for spending part of your holiday on Jumpstart.

As we look at Psalm 129 today, we see that one main theme emerges: God is the one who deals righteously with our enemies. It would be interesting to poll those reading this today and ask the question: do you struggle with forgiveness? Other good questions to dig deeper with that idea: have you truly forgiven someone, or have you simply forgiven them outwardly? Does that person still cause you to react in anger?

All of us struggle with this to a degree. I would argue that the root of unforgiveness can be found in a greater trust in self than in God. Verse 4 is the key verse in this passage. It is a reminder that God is the one who justifies the evils that we experience. With greater trust in God comes greater peace in dealing with those who wrong us.

Do you struggle with unforgiveness? We would love to pray for you and encourage you in anyway that we can.
