Today you should read: Revelation 16:8-16
In today’s reading, we read about the 4th, 5th, and 6th Bowls of Judgement on the Earth during the tribulation time. The fourth plague caused the sun to get hotter and scorch people with its fire, the fifth caused darkness to cover the earth, and the sixth dried up the great Euphrates river.
In verse 13, three spirits that looked like frogs leaped from the mouth of the dragon. They represent the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet who will wage war against Christ in the final battle, the battle of Armageddon.
The people’s response to these Judgement Bowls tell us everything. In verses 9 and 11 – they cursed God for sending the plagues. They refused to repent of their sins and turn to God (v. 9b and 11b).
This is the same attitude many people have today. They blame God for the consequences that their own sins produced. Instead of repenting of those sins and turning to God – they curse God, the only source that can help them. If we’re not careful, we can even do that as Christians. We blame God for our own sin – rather than repent.
I love verse 15:
Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for Me, who keep their clothing ready…
Jesus is returning soon – unexpectantly as a thief. Are you ready? Have you come into a relationship with Jesus and allowed Him to wash away your sin? Are you living your life for Him to advance the Gospel by your life and word?
- Ask God to search your heart – to see if there is anything that you need to repent of and have a willing heart to do it today.
- Live today ready – looking for Jesus to return like a thief in the night.
