Today you should read: Ephesians 1:1-6

Welcome to Ephesians here at Jumpstart! What a great time for us to dive into this letter together. I have always seen Ephesians as a breath of fresh air because Paul’s circular letter to the churches in the region of Ephesus is pastoral, theological, and practical; these three are each vital to the life of the Christian. We need God’s shepherding protection & guidance, we need God’s timeless truth, and we need to live a changed life of Christ-honoring action.

Familiarize yourself with Ephesians by watching this quick video:

Today’s reading (verses 1-6) is full of great truth for every believer: we are blessed because of Jesus, we’re chosen and adopted, we’re forgiven and redeemed, we’ve experienced the riches of God’s grace, and we have real purpose. Write these verses out today. Put them somewhere you’ll see them, and when the world tries to define you, look at Ephesians 1 to remember that God has already defined who you are in Him.

What did the Lord teach you today from this helpful letter?

One final extra thing that the ESV Study Bible called to my attention. If you wonder if Paul affirmed the doctrine of the Trinity, look no further than the book of Ephesians. It is saturated with references to Father, Son, and Spirit. Check out this little chart: Eph-Trinity

Happy Monday, CPC!

  1. Thanks Todd. I really appreciated the included video. Looking forward to reading this with the rest of CPC.

  2. I haven’t completely grasped the importance of the “Trinity” debate. I am content to believe that the concept of God being represented by three distinct personalities (or maybe expressions) is far beyond our comprehension and impossible to compare with anything with which we are familiar. I’m OK with that.
    Enjoyed the video!
