What would you do if you just received the best news ever? For some, it would render them speechless. For others, it would be impossible to silence them. After Nathan gave David the powerful words of God’s commitment to him, David was overwhelmed. And maybe, initially, he was speechless, but then he gave us one of the most beautiful prayers you’ll find in the Bible.
David would not be the one to build the Temple, yet here, we find him satisfied in God’s plan and provision. Though he wouldn’t build God’s earthly house, One from David’s lineage would soon welcome myriads into God’s heavenly home. David was more-than-okay with the big picture, which is why his heart poured out praise and adoration. He felt honored to be a part of God’s plan. We should too!
Questions for reflection: What verse jumped out at you from David’s prayer? What does this prayer encourage you to consider about your own prayer life?
