Today you should read: Isaiah 28

When you read Isaiah 28 you understand that God is serious about holiness and obeying His commands.  You also see that He allows discipline in the lives of His people to get their attention.

This makes me consider my own life.  What must God do to get our attention?  In what areas are we living in disobedience to His Word?

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.  Galatians 6:7

God loves us so much and He will not allow us to continue in our destructive sin.  He will use whatever is necessary to bring us back to a safe and holy place.

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”  Hebrews 12:5-6

Understanding this makes me incredibly grateful for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.  He came to save and remake us into His image and likeness. Verse 16 says:

Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

Jesus is that Cornerstone – and everything is built on Him.  Trusting in Him gives life purpose. Jesus makes our lives make sense.

  • Are there any areas in your life that God is speaking to you about today?  Take a moment and confess those to Him and make the changes necessary to obey Him.
  • What are you MOST thankful for today about Jesus?  Take a moment and thank Him right now.
