Today you should read: Isaiah 38
In today’s reading, Hezekiah has become deathly ill, and the Lord lets him know through Isaiah that he is going to die. King Hezekiah then turns to God and cries out to the Lord, weeping bitterly.
Isaiah receives another message from the Lord that He has heard the prayer of Hezekiah and that God is going to add another fifteen years to his life as well as rescuing their city from the hands of the Assyrians.
Hezekiah then writes a poem of praise, recounting the suffering that he had just endured and thanking God for his faithfulness! Hezekiah said:
My eyes grew tired of looking to heaven for help. I am in trouble, Lord. Help me!” 15 But what could I say? For he himself sent this sickness. Now I will walk humbly throughout my years because of this anguish I have felt. 16 Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. (v.14b-16a)
Hezekiah recognized that it was the Lord who had brought him sickness and suffering, and it was the Lord who was going to bring him health and deliverance.
Are you suffering today? Is there something going on in your life that has you down? Recognize that God might be using that suffering in order to bring you closer to him, to teach you something, or to make you look more like Jesus. God is also faithful and will deliver his children from suffering, whether that be on earth or in heaven.
Take some time and ask yourself today: No matter what I’m going through, am I able to say, “I will sing his praises…every day of my life…” (v.20)?

I love this simple verse. We serve a BIG God who can length, or shorten, our 24 hour days. He is the master of the universe and all created things. Thank you God for walking with us all of our days whether they are many or few.
