Today you should read: Isaiah 48
In the first 11 verses of our passage today, we see that Israel has been disobedient to the Lord. The verse I want to focus on is verse 2, which says:
“who swear by the name of the Lord and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.”
The people of Israel are seen as having a nominal faith. They were not excited about serving the Lord. They did not desire to serve God and see Him work miracles. The problem is that many people in churches today have this same way of thinking. Listen to what Revelation 3:15-17 says about nominal faith:
“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.”
We have to remember who God is in comparison to us (48:12-13). He is the Creator of all things and knows what is best for His people. I urge you today: do not have a lukewarm faith! Be excited about having a relationship with God, and use that excitement to tell others about Him!
How can we have a nominal faith when we serve a God so Holy and Mighty?
Excited to read such an excellent devotion!
