Today you should read: Deuteronomy 3:21-29

What is something you’ve longed for for a long time? Is it marriage or family plans, a promotion at work, graduation from school (can I get an amen for only 3 more classes of seminary!)? For the Israelites, and Moses especially, they longed for the promised land, but because of disobedience, Moses was kept from reaching it.

Instead, God encourages Moses not to wallow in pity, but instead encourage the leadership of Joshua, his successor. How easy would it be to not care of sabotage the future opportunities of the one who will succeed you, out of spite? I believe this shows that even in disappointment and imperfection, Moses still had a heart that loved God.

When you are faced with disappointment, how do you respond? Do you trust God through it or do you focus on the problem? Are you thankful that no matter what God gives you, you still get God?
