Today you should read: Numbers 17

Coming out of Korah’s Rebellion God wanted to show who He had chosen to be the priest over Israel. The Priesthood had so much responsibility. They were the representation of the people to God. It is no question that, in our sinful humanity, people were lobbying for this “power grab”. But here in Numbers 17 we see something very important…

Authority is GIVEN not TAKEN.

God proved that He had chosen Aaron and his sons. God had a plan. He was going to set the tribe of Levi apart to be the nation’s priesthood. This was a high calling.

We too have a high calling in Jesus. Paul describes it as an “upward call in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). He has called us to live on mission.

Where has God given you authority?

How can you use this given authority to glorify God?
