Today you should read: Numbers 27

At the end of Numbers 27 we see something super important.  Joshua is called up by God to lead after Moses. This is a BIG DEAL. Moses was a spiritual hero to these people. Through the power of God, he led the Israelites out of Egypt, provided for them in the desert, gave them the 10 commandments, and so much more. Safe to say he would be a hard leader to follow.

But God chose Joshua. A young, but passionate, leader to shepherd the people of God through the promised land.

So the Lord said to Moses, Take Joshua the son of non, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight.” (v.18-19)

And Moses obeyed God. And through this decision, God blessed Israel as Joshua assumed leadership.

Leadership is tricky but we learn a couple things:

  1. We are CHOSEN for leadership by God.
  2. Godly leaders lead IN THE SPIRIT of God.
  3. Good leaders REPLACE themselves.

God has chosen you to lead in all sorts of areas; your job, your friends, your marriage, your family, your school. Don’t take this lightly. God CHOSE you!

  1. Is this the right commentary? This commentary is not consistent with Numbers 27, which is about Zelophehad’s daughters..
