Today you should read: Revelation 19:6-10
What a great passage we read today! A few things stick out to me:
First, the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb. This song in verses 6-9 is a celebration of the marriage between Jesus and his bride, the Church. Praise the Lord that this is the reality for those of us who are in a relationship with Christ. One day we will be joined with Christ as a part of this great wedding ceremony.
Second, the bride is clothed in fine, white linen representing righteousness. The Church has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear. Those of us who are in Christ have been given the righteousness of Jesus. Because of Jesus’s finished work on the cross, we have right standing before God and can look forward to this great wedding feast.
Lastly, the encounter between John and the angel is intriguing. John falls down to worship the angel, but the angel says that he is a servant of God. In the last line of today’s passage, I think we get a clue as to what much of the focus of Revelation is:
“For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus” Revelation 19:10
This entire book and the entire Bible points to Jesus as the Savior of his people, the King of all kings, and the only one who is truly worthy of worship.
Take some extra time today in prayer to praise Jesus for what he did on the cross for you.
